I walk by a large spread of road-side cactus almost every day. Most of the year the cactus is dull green and forbidding, but in the spring these flowers add color.

August is often a barren time for flowers in bloom near the California central coast. It is always a pleasure to see the return of the Amaryllis. I enjoy the contrast of the delicate and the rough in this shot.

Several acres of cholla cactus in the Colorado desert portion of Joshua Tree National Park. This cactus is known as the teddy bear cactus because, from a distance, the spines give it a soft and fuzzy appearance.
