The Pistol River State Scenic Viewpoint is 11 miles south of Gold Beach along highway 101 in Oregon. The river is named for a pistol lost in the river during the Rogue River Wars in 1853.

Patrick’s Point State Park is 26 miles north of Eureka, California. This rocky overlook is sometimes used for weddings. A beautiful location but frequently foggy.
