Road Trip–Point Cabrillo Light Station

Photograph of Point Cabrillo Lighthouse at sunset near Russian Gulch in Northern CaliforniaThe light station was built to protect the increased maritime transport of lumber to rebuild San Francisco after the great earthquake of 1906. It was completed in 1909.

A long hike from the parking area to the lighthouse was worth the effort.

Road Trip–Salt Point

Road Trip–Northern California

We saw spectacular rocky cliffs, lonely beaches, redwoods and lots of fog. Over the next several weeks I’ll post some of my favorite shots. We began the coast portion of the trip just north of the Russian River. This shot was looking back south as we began to climb in elevation.

Boats–Disabled Boat

Photograph of a disabled=I don’t know the story of this boat but it provokes many questions. What happened? Was anyone lost? It speaks to the power and danger of the sea and the courage of those who make their living from it.
