The sky and sea were so bright that very little color was visible. I decided to convert this to black and white because the contrast was so extreme. February 2, 2009.

New Mexico—Ghost Ranch
An old cabin along the entrance road to Ghost Ranch, a retreat center near Albiquí, New Mexico. The Ghost Ranch has a colorful history and is, perhaps, best known by its association with the artist Georgia O’Keeffe who lived there at one time and found inspiration for many of her paintings. Today it is owned by the Presbyterian Church USA and is operated as a retreat center. It is open to the public.

New Mexico–Puye Cliff Dwellings
The Cliff Dwellings are ruins of an abandoned pueblo on Santa Clara Pueblo land. They were home to as many as 1500 pueblo indians between 900 and 1580 AD. Dwellings were carved out of soft volcanic rock. Rooms were carved into the face of the cliff using stone or wooden tools. Additional dwellings are found on the mesa plateau.
