Lundy Lake
Lundy Lake is in Lundy Canyon, seven miles north of Lee Vining on Highway 395 in eastern California. It is the site of an old gold mining town, Lundy. The canyon is spectacular in October as the aspen change color.

Conway Summit
Another shot from Conway Summit, this time with a splash of orange to liven up the browns of the plateau. The Sawtooth Ridge of the Sierra Nevada lies to the west of Conway Summit and the ghost town of Bodie to the east.

Conway Summit Aspen
The Conway Summit pass is the highest point on Highway 395 in Mono County, California. The pass is a high plateau over 8,000 feet in elevation. This shot is looking west toward the Sierra Nevada with Aspen providing patches of color in the foreground.

Brilliant Yellow
It isn’t clear why some aspen are changing color while others haven’t yet begun. This one patch of aspen on a hillside above the Carson River near Markleeville, California seemed to glow while others nearby were still green.
