Rainbows — Death Valley
I was reminded of rainbows today and decided to do a short series of posts of rainbow images. There is something magical about an arc of color reaching across the sky. Hope, promise and good fortune are associated with rainbows. This particular image is from Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley. No rain was falling where I was standing but a tremendous wind was blowing so much dust that I had to retreat to my truck. March, 2006.

Anza-Borrego State Park–Palm Canyon Campground Road
Anza-Borrego is the largest state park in California with 600,000 acres. It is about two hours south of Palm Springs. It is home to the Desert Bighorn sheep. The park was named for Juan Bautista de Anza, the Spanish explorer and for the Bighorn sheep, Borrego, in Spanish. This was sunrise in the Palm Canyon campground.
