I camped in a campground the last night it was open in October, 2007. It was extremely cold, but the compensation was an early morning view of Mt. Hood.

Photograph of the Heceta Head Lighthouse along the southern Oregon coastThe Heceta Head lighthouse is probably the most photographed lighthouse along the Oregon coast. It sits 205 feet above the Pacific. Its beacon can be seen 21 miles from the land.

Road Trip–Yaquina Bay Bridge

It is one of eleven bridges along the Oregon Coast Highway designed by Conde McCullough, an engineer who was head of the Bridge Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation. The bridge is one of the more recognizable landmarks along the Oregon coast.

Road Trip–Multonomah Falls

Multonomah Falls are the best known of the Columbia River Gorge waterfalls. There was less water in the falls in October of a dry year, but still they are beautiful.
