Moss Landing Wildlife–Sea Lions 4

Photograph of sea lion swimming in Moss Landing HarborAlthough they are a nuisance, sea lions are protected marine mammals and extreme measures can’t be used to drive them away. The earlier posts of sea lions made them seem rather benign. These teeth are a reminder that they are wild creatures and can be very vicious.

Moss Landing Wildlife–Sea Lions

Photograph of sleeping sea lions on the visitors dock in Moss Landing HarborMoss Landing installed an expensive visitor’s dock in 2007. Almost immediately, it was taken over by hundreds of sea lions. The dock is no longer available for visitors since the sea lions show no interest in leaving. The sea lions spend most of the time on the dock sleeping or quarreling with each other. They sleep stacked on top of each other like puppies.
