We recently visited the Butchart Gardens near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The gardens are justifiably world-famous. They are a wonder of color, variety and harmony. In 2004 the gardens were designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The 5 different gardens cover 55 acres, much of which is the site of a limestone quarry that supplied Mr. Butchart’s cement business.

Canada and Alaska 2011–IceFields Parkway
The Icefields Parkway is a side highway that connects Banff National Park and Jasper National Park. It travels by icefields, glaciers and some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in the world. A snow storm was coming in and obscured some of the peaks. The view may have been obscured, but it was mysterious and magical. This is a detail of Pulpit Peak.
