The lighthouse at Yaquinq Head was finished in 1873 and is still active today. The Yaquina Head Interpretive Center offers a wealth of information about the difficult lives of the Keepers before the lighthouse was automated.

Still looking for a campsite for the night, we had to pull over for this sunset. This was several miles north of Hectea Head and just south of Florence. The fog quickly swallowed up the color. This light lasted less than five minutes.

We arrived at this beach below the Heceta Head Lighthouse too late to climb to the lighthouse. The fog rolling in made it seem darker than it actually was. At this point, we didn’t know where we would camp, so couldn’t stay long.
