Sunset over Mt. McKinley taken from a vista point outside the small town of Talkeetna. Sunset this far north comes late. This photo was taken at 9:36 PM in early September, 2006.
A view of the Talkeetna River and miles of trees turning color. Mt. McKinley is sixty miles away. The trees seemed to turn color all at the same time. To see them from the air was very impressive.
Rugged peaks descend to the Ruth Glacier in the McKinley Range. The turquoise color on the lower left is a small landlocked lake formed by glacier melt.
