A Look Back—Trona Pinnacles 2
Another shot I liked from the Trona Pinnacles. The road into the pinnacles is unpaved and rutted so the five mile drive seemed to last forever. I’m sure it isn’t that bad, but I haven’t returned yet.

The tufa spires rise up from the ancient Searles lake bed east of Ridgecrest, California. The Trona Pinnacles have been used as a backdrop for numerous films and commercials.

The light was already harsh, but I couldn’t neglect this angle with the moon. From a camping trip to Death Valley in January, 2009. Taken at Red Rock State Park, California. Taken with the 70-200mm telephoto lens.

A Look Back—Asilomar rocks
This was a 2.5 second exposure at f/11. I wanted to keep the shutter open to blur the water and mist. I liked the effect against the solidity of the rocky shore. December 4, 2007.

A Look Back—Kings River
A visit to Cedar Grove at the end of Highway 180 in Kings Canyon National Park in July of 2007. It was a first attempt at using a polarizing filter to slow the shutter speed to blur the flowing water. I was pleased with this one.
