Palouse Falls

Photograph of Palouse Falls in southeastern WashingtonPalouse Falls drops nearly 200 feet into a large pool at the base of an amphitheater of eroded basalt. The falls were created by glacial floods during the Pleistocene epoch. The falls lie on the Palouse River about 4 miles from the Snake River in southeastern Washington. They seem all the more dramatic by being surrounded by flatlands that give no clue to their existence.
